"You can't be what you can't see" is a well-used quote when it comes to aspirations.

In the modern World there are so many career opportunities that we feel it is important for Primary age pupils to have a good understanding of what employment opportunities are open to them. Especially as due to the pace of technology, some of  those jobs don't yet exist!

At Bincombe Valley Primary School we use the curriculum and wider opportunities to give the children a broader insight into further education, training and employment.

Working alongside partners such as Primary Futures and Start Small, Dream Big we provide employer encounters for pupils. These may range from visits from people from a range of professions to trips out to local workplaces.

To date we have had employer encounters from:

• CEFAS
• McLaren
• Land Rover/Jaguar
• Local businesses
• Ex pupils who have gone on to study careers in such things as Tourism and Journalism
• Authors

In addition one of our reading projects involves pupils graduating from Bournemouth University to see what course are on offer and what university life could be like.
