Bincombe Valley Primary School

Additional responsibilities

Gaining responsibility is an important part of personal development.

At Bincombe Valley Primary School we encourage pupils to take on extra roles and responsibilities.

Each class has several monitors who undertake certain jobs within the classroom.

Pupils can help in the Lunch Hall and on the playground. Bronze Ambassadors receive additional training to help to run activities and games on the playgrounds.

The Eco-School Team are tasked with making the school as environmentally friendly and aware as it can be.

Every class has 2 School Councillors. These children are voted in by their peers and attend half-termly Council meetings. School Councillors take ideas from their classes to the Senior Leadership Team in the school. They also often liaise with peers to decide on how raised funds are spent. One of the roles of the School Council is to work with the Local Food Bank at Harvest time to deliver contributions made by the school community.

Children can apply to the school's English Lead to become a School Librarian.

In Year 6 pupils have the chance to take on more leadership roles through the House system. Written applications are taken for the following roles:

  • House Captain
  • Vice House Captain
  • Sports Captain
